At The Zoo Lessons Overview:

Memory Verse:

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

Lessons

The Monkeys- Monkeys are one of the most popular animals at the zoo, because they are so curious.  They're always exploring climbing, trying new things.  We as Christians should have the same passion to study God's Word and try new things He has called us to do.  When we do that, we too can expect people to gather to see what makes our life so exciting.

The Elephants- Elephants are strong creatures, but as strong as they are, they are stronger together. They move in herds to protect their own. We are stronger when we unite together as believers, but when one goes astray, they become vulnerable to attack from the outside.

The Lions- Daniel and the Lion’s Den. Daniel's faith shows that nothing is impossible with God and we can trust God no matter what.

Zebra- Zebras are different.  God made them that way.  The wavy lines of a zebra blend in with the wavy lines of the tall grass around it. It doesn't matter that the zebra's stripes are black and white and the lines of the grass are yellow, brown or green, because the zebra's main predator, the lion, is colorblind.  God has a specific plan for everyone of us and He made us just the way He wants us to be, in His image.

The Giraffes- Giraffes have long necks to reach the tallest branches. Christians should not be content to live as the world does but be constantly reaching for Heaven.

Parrot- Parrots don’t worry. God provides all they need, from food and water to their gorgeous feathers. We too need to trust that God will provide everything we need.

The Ostrich- Ostriches are known for hiding their heads in the sand. Too often, Christians are known for the same thing. We need to be bold enough to stand for what’s right. Kids will study the story of Gideon being called by God.

The Kangaroo- Kangaroos are known as great parents, largely because of their pouches. They remind us we need to honor our parents as God commanded.

The Alligator- Just as alligators have a tough skin, we need to learn to turn the other cheek when we are persecuted for our faith.

The Turtles- A lesson in patience. Kids will learn about Joseph’s time in slavery.

Butterfly- Just as a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, Jesus wants to transform us from sinners into new creations in Christ.

The Zookeeper - God is our creator and caretaker.   The shepherd who loves his animals so much he would die for them.

Each Lesson Includes:

  • Memory Verse - so that you can make sure kids are getting Scripture in their minds and hearts every single week and you can feel like each lesson was a success even when it seems like 90% of your lesson time is spent saying things like "calm down", "let's be quiet", "hands to yourself!
  • Skit or Puppet Show - so you have a way to easily connect the lesson with your hands-on and visual learners. No drama team? No problem! Just hand the script to the kids. They'll have a blast and think you're the coolest.
  • Craft Activity - so you can give kids a physical reminder of the Bible lesson (and give yourself an activity to keep them busy until mom and dad come back!)
  • Game - so kids don't leave and say church was BORING! Games are so important to help keep kids engaged. Our large group games always include a "What's The Point" section to help you connect the game to the lesson.
  • Large Group Lesson - so you can present the Bible story in a clear and fun way, which means now you can enjoy Saturday nights instead of stressing over putting a lesson together!
  • Small-Group Discussion - so you can find out who was paying attention and who was talking to their neighbor.  Just kidding, this is a great way for you to build deeper relationships with your kiddos after each lesson, which means you're going to care about them so much you'll cry like a baby when they graduate and go to middle school :(

At the Zoo 12 Week Curriculum

"I have a 14-night children's program during an evangelistic series. This program is going to be perfect for 12 of the 14 nights (I'll have to create 2 nights). The one thing I wanted was an easy craft for each animal, so am finding those on Pinterest to add to this curriculum."

"I wanted a zoo theme for our preschool Christian ministry program, so I found this pretty helpful. I am looking forward to the preschool program that will be available at the end of this week."

"As a small church with limited funds, we find it necessary to build our own VBS this year. We are using a portion of this curriculum for VBS, and the rest for our children’s church this summer. It’s just what we needed! It’s easy to work with, great for a variety of ages, and most importantly, it is biblically sound."

"So far so good! Did first week with the children and they loved it! Peeling bananas with their feet was a hit!!"

"Love that the fact that there are 12 lessons first of all. The skits are fun and easy to do, the kids love them. Lessons can be done without a lot of prep. Love the printable lesson guide. Looking forward to using this curriculum this summer. The only thing that I struggle with in the curriculum's from you is that there is a lot of sitting and discussing and I'd like to see a little activity that to give them opportunity to move around a bit."

      The Zoo 12 week Curriculum

"I think the curriculum is okay. I wish with these curriculum's you could include at least one craft idea. I bought this one because I thought the crafts may be easy with the animals. Not sure I am in love with the lessons but it was $100 and I need to use it. A few new ones have caught my eye."
