Psalm 23 Preschool Curriculum
"Teachers love the simplicity of it and the kids are responding well!"
I wish I'd seen a tiny preview or even a lesson outline before purchasing
"Pros: 1. the digital download means it is available immediately and it isn't taking up space in my tiny office. 2. the games and activities included are connected to the story in a meaningful way. These were also easy to adapt to older age groups. Cons (for my use): 1. Every lesson starts with a puppet show and includes a skit. My teaching staff is not interested in giving a theatrical presentation. 2. Every lesson suggests the gathering of several components (for each section of the lesson): skit items, puppet show items, object lesson items, craft items, game items, etc. And these items are not listed in one place, but rather each list is embedded in its own section of the lesson. 3. The title implies that this is a preschool curriculum (pre-reading), but there are items specific to each lesson which are written and meant to be displayed for the children. Although a teacher is instructed to read those words, picture cards included in the pdf would simplify prep and be preschool-interesting. 4. There were not any coloring pages. 5. This does not appear to be a kit with a focus on memory as well as understanding. Although each lesson is tied to a verse in Psalm 23, there are no memory games or activities included for the lessons. Also there is not included a printout of the passage for the children to look at, take home, or color. I work in a church plant averaging 300 on Sundays. We are currently renting our space which requires simple set up each week. The large quantity of items required to present these lessons wasn't ideal for our purposes. As a certified teacher and a children's church director, I was disappointed about the lack of printable art included in this preschool curriculum. The lessons, however, had good focus and a solid connection from Psalm 23 to other passages of scripture. And, they were easily adaptable for use with our older children; perhaps even the best developmental fit for our early elementary students rather than our preschoolers."
