Colorful Bible Lessons!
Each week kids will get to make a piece of art using a specific color to remind them of the Bible lesson. The main theme of this series is that preschoolers will learn that whenever they are sad, scared, lonely, or sick they can ask God to help them and he will.
Art Class Preschool Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview:
Memory Verse: “But I call out to God. And the Lord saves me.” Psalm 55:16(NIrV)
Blue – God Is With Us When We’re Sad
Scripture: Jonah 1 - 2:2, Jonah in the Belly of the Fish
The color blue reminds us of tears and being sad. When God told Jonah to go to Ninevah, Jonah disobeyed and went the other way. Because he disobeyed he ended up getting swallowed by a big fish! Jonah was quite upset at this point, but the Bible says that even from inside the belly of the fish, when Jonah cried out to God, God listened to him and answered him.
Yellow – God Is With Us When We’re Scared
Scripture: Daniel 6:1-23, Daniel In The Lion’s Den
The color yellow can remind us of the lions that surrounded Daniel when he was in the lion’s den. It would probably be very scary to be thrown into a pit full of hungry lions, but Daniel knew that even then he could talk to God and God would help him. And that’s exactly what happened! God protected Daniel from all of the hungry lions!
Green – God Is With Us When We Are Lonely
Scripture: Luke 19:1-10, Jesus Visits Zacchaeus
The color green reminds us of the tree Zacchaeus climbed so that he could see Jesus. Zacchaeus had stolen a lot of money from people so he probably did not have many friends and that is why he went to see Jesus all by himself. But, when Zacchaeus met Jesus, Jesus did not ignore him like most people did, Jesus wanted to be his friend. When Jesus showed Zacchaeus he loved him, it changed Zacchaeus’ life.
Red – God Is With Us When We’re Sick or Hurt
Scripture:Mark 2:1-12, Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man
The color red can remind us of getting a boo boo. What happens when we get a scraped knee or a cut on our arm? We go see mom and she puts a band-aid on it and makes it all better. When Jesus healed the paralyzed man in today’s story, he showed us that he can heal any physical hurt or sickness that we have and he can also heal our hearts by forgiving our sins.
