Jesus Is Our Light!
Preschoolers will have some fun with glow stick crafts and activities as they learn that Jesus is like a night light that shines brightly in the dark. A dark room can be scary, but a night light makes things better. Sometimes we have to face hard things or scary things in life, but having Jesus with us makes it better.
Glow! Preschool Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview:
Memory Verse: “Let your light shine in front of others.” Matthew 5:16a (NIrV)
Lessons:
The Light of the World
Scripture: John 1:1-15, John 8:12-19, Jesus is the Light of the World
The world can sometimes be scary and difficult. Jesus came into the world to help us. Jesus is the light of the world. Just like a dark room is less scary with a night light, our lives are better with Jesus. (Kids will create or observe Glow Jars that are made by emptying the contents of glow sticks into water-filled jars or using glow paint.)
Objective: Kids will say, “Jesus is the Light of the World.”
Shine Your Light
Scripture: Matthew 5:13-16, Salt and Light
Jesus is the light of the world. When we follow Jesus and tell our friends about how good Jesus is, it’s like holding a flashlight to help our friends see. (Kids will play with Glow Balloons, made by carefully inserting glow sticks into balloons.)
Objective: Kids will say, “Jesus helps me show others the way to go.”
Living Water
Scripture: John 4:1-14, The Living Water
When we follow Jesus, Jesus gives us joy. It’s just like when you are really thirsty and take a drink of water and feel better. Jesus gives us joy that makes us feel better no matter what. (Kids will enjoy some Glow in the Dark Drinks, made by placing glow bracelets in the bottom of a clear cup with another liquid-filled cup stacked on top.)
Objective: Kids will say, “Jesus gives me joy.”
Burning Bright
Scripture: Acts 2:1-12, Pentecost
Jesus gave his friends the Holy Spirit who made them brave to go out and share Jesus' love with others. When we realize how much Jesus helps us, we will want our friends to know Jesus too. It’s like when one bowling pin knocks down another, and that pin knocks down another - that’s how everyone can know Jesus! (Kids will play Glow In The Dark Bowling, with glow sticks in water bottle pins and a ball of your choice.)
Objective: Kids will say, “I get to share Jesus with others.”
