God is in Control No Matter How I Feel!
Our emotions can be hard to control. Sometimes things happen we didn't expect, and suddenly we feel really scared or mad, or even sad. But God shows us that no matter how we feel, God can help us express those feelings in the right way.
How to Train Your Emotions Preschool Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview:
Memory Verse: “I will be glad and full of joy because of you.” Psalm 9:2a (NIrV)
Lessons:
Anger
Scripture: Exodus 17:1-7, Water From the Rock
The people of God were in the desert with no water to drink. They were hot and tired and angry. Even though the people were grumpy and complaining, God loved his people and provided water in a miraculous way.
Objective: Kids will learn “God can turn my mad to glad. “
Fear
Scripture: Luke 8:22-25, Jesus Calms the Storm
Jesus’ friends got very scared when a storm hit their boat. But Jesus showed them that he is in control, and he stopped the storm. When we feel afraid, we can tame our fear by talking to Jesus and remembering that he is in control.
Objective: Kids will learn “when I feel fear, God is always near.”
Sadness
Scripture: John 11:17-44, Jesus Raises Lazarus
When Lazarus died, his sisters and all of his friends were very sad. When Jesus came to see them, he was also sad for his friends. Jesus showed us it is ok to be sad, but if we trust Jesus, he can turn our sadness to gladness!
Objective: Kids will learn “God can turn my sad to glad”
Joy
Scripture: Acts 16:22-34, Paul and Silas in Prison
Paul and Silas were put in jail for telling people about Jesus. The other prisoners were filled with anger, fear, and sadness. But Paul and Silas were filled with joy, because they trusted Jesus. They were even singing songs of praise and praying to God. No matter how we feel, if we keep our focus on Jesus, he will give us joy.
Objective: Kids will learn “Even when I’m mad, scared, or sad, God can make me glad!”
