Following Jesus, Helping Others

During the preschool years, little ones are learning how to be helpers: to their parents, their teachers, and their friends. In I Can Help 4-Week Preschool Ministry Curriculum, kids will learn that helping others is one of the ways that we can follow Jesus.

Lessons:

Friend and Neighbor

Scripture: Luke 10:25-37, The Parable of the Good Samaritan

We want to be good friends and neighbors to others. Jesus said when we help out someone who needs it, we are being a good friend and neighbor. 

Objective: Little ones will say, “I can help when someone is sad or hurt.”

Helping Hand

Scripture: Exodus 17:8-16, The Amalekites Defeated

As long as Moses kept his arms raised, the Israelites were winning the battle with the Amalekites. But after awhile, Moses grew tired and needed Aaron and Hur to help keep his arms lifted up. We can help others and lend a hand.

Objective: Little ones will say, “I can help others with their chores.”

Never Runs Out

Scripture: 1 Kings 17:7-16, Elijah and the Widow

When Elijah asked a widow for something to eat, she gave everything that she had to help him. God blessed the widow and gave her more and more and more. God's help never runs out. 

Objective: Little ones will say, “I can help others because God helps me.”

The Greatest

Scripture: Mark 9:33-37, The Greatest in the Kingdom

Jesus' friends were arguing about which one of them would be the greatest. Jesus told them to be the greatest, you must be the biggest helper. Jesus was the greatest helper ever. When we help other people, we are following Jesus. 

Objective: Little ones will say, “I'm following Jesus when I help others.”
