ELEMENTARY LESSONS:
MEMORY VERSE:
"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ." 2 Corinthians 1:20a
LESSON 1: The City Of David
Bethlehem’s significance is tied to prophecy about the Messiah. We will also look at other prophecies about the Messiah that are fulfilled in the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ birth.
Scripture: Luke 2, Micah 5:2
LESSON 2: Jerusalem
In the city at the center of the Jewish religion, the infant Jesus is confirmed to be God’s Messiah. During His dedication at the temple, Simeon and Anna both recognized Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promises to Israel.
Scripture: Luke 2
LESSON 3: There And Back Again
Jesus escaped to, then returned from Egypt, just as the Israelites had done. The first chapters of Matthew’s Gospel follow this theme of presenting Jesus as the fulfillment of Moses, and of Israel.
Scripture: Matthew 2
LESSON 4: Can Anything Good Some from There?
Nazareth was a small town in the countryside that many viewed as insignificant. When the disciple Nathaniel first heard that Jesus was from Nazareth, he said, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”
Jesus grew up in this small, Galilean countryside town to fulfill what was written about Him, and to show us how humble He is, and that extraordinary things can come out of ordinary places.
Scripture: Luke 1, John 1:43-64
