It’s no trick - prayer is a treat we can enjoy as believers. It’s our chance to connect with God, to grow our faith, and to find direction away from sin and toward a brighter future.

Pumpkin Prayers Preschool Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview:
MEMORY VERSE:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” - Philippians 4:6
LESSONS:
Get Connected
Scripture: Matthew 6:11, Daniel 6:3-10
How does a pumpkin grow? The longer it’s attached to the vine, the more daily nourishment it receives. We need to pray for daily bread - daily spiritual food from God - so that our faith can grow.
Objective: Little ones will learn, “I can pray to God everyday.”
Lose the Gunk
Scripture: Matthew 6:12, Matthew 18:21-33
Sin is what separates us from God. It’s why we need Jesus. Only Jesus can forgive our sins, the same way we clean out the “gunk” inside a pumpkin. We need to ask him daily for forgiveness and grace to forgive others.
Objective: Little ones will learn, “I can ask God to forgive me when I pray.”
Joyful Noise
Scripture: Matthew 6:9-10, Psalm 100:4-5
If Jack-o-lanterns could speak, they’d probably have a million different funny voices. We have mouths that can speak, and God wants us to use them for praise. When we pray, we should always remember to offer God thanks and praise.
Objective: Little ones will learn, “I can praise and thank God when I pray.”
Light in the Darkness
Scripture: Matthew 6:13, John 8:12
The lights of a pumpkin sitting on a porch can guide us home on a dark night. God’s light not only leads us away from temptation but lights the path we should follow. We should ask God to give us direction away from sin and closer to Him.
Objective: Little ones will learn, “I can ask God to help me when I pray.”
