Jesus Is The True Vine

When you first carve a pumpkin, it may look really cool for a day or two, but pretty soon, it will start to shrivel and eventually rot. This simple rotten pumpkin is an excellent reminder of what our life looks like when we become disconnected from the true vine, Jesus.

Rotten Pumpkins Lesson Overview:

Memory Verse: “I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain joined to me, and I to you, you will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me.John 15:5 (NIRV)

Scripture: Romans 6:21-23, The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life

When we don’t have Jesus in our hearts, we’re like a pumpkin that is disconnected from the vine and hollowed out on the inside.  We can put on a nice face, but pretty soon, the emptiness inside will be exposed.  Unlike pumpkins, though, we can have hope.  When we put our faith in Jesus, He can wash away our sins and fill our hearts with joy for all eternity.

Objective: Kids will learn that they need a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus.
