The God Who Sees Us, Saves Us, and Shares With Us! 

The book of Exodus tells the story of the Israelites being freed from slavery in Egypt. In the big picture, Exodus is about a Holy God who desires a relationship with His people. In this series, kids will learn that we worship the God who sees us, saves us, and desires to share His love with us!

Exodus Children's Ministry Curriculum Lesson Overview

Lessons 1-4: The God Who Sees Us

Memory Verse: “And they believed. They heard that the Lord was concerned about them. He had seen their suffering. So they bowed down and worshiped him.” - Exodus 4:31 (NIRV)
 
 
God Sees Our Needs
Scripture: Exodus 1:22-2:10, The Birth of Moses
God’s people were slaves in Egypt and suffering. The people cried out to God; He saw their suffering and heard their cries. Moses’ life was in danger from the moment he was born. God saw Moses’ need and saved Him, with the plan that He would one day use Moses to save the people.
Objective: Kids will learn “God sees our needs and cares for us.”
 
God Sees Our Hurt
Scripture: Exodus 2:11-25, Moses Flees
Moses made a terrible decision to kill an Egyptian in his anger over how the Israelites were suffering. God saw their hurt and was working out his plan to rescue them from their suffering.
Objective: Kids will learn “God sees our suffering and has a plan to save us.”
 
God Sees Our Purpose
Scripture: Exodus 3:1-12, The Burning Bush
Moses was a shepherd in the wilderness, but God had a bigger purpose for him – to save the Israelites in Egypt. God can see our purpose and future so much better than we can, and He will equip us to live it out.
Objective: Kids will learn “God sees our purpose and equips us.” 
 
God Sees The Victory
Scripture: Exodus 7:1-13, Moses Before Pharaoh
When Moses and Aaron stood before Pharaoh, it seemed that Pharaoh had all the power. But God could see beyond what they could. God already knew that the victory belonged to Moses and the Israelites.
Objective: Kids will learn “God sees the victory that only He can provide.”

Lessons 5-8: The God Who Saves Us

Memory Verse: “The Lord gives me strength and protects me. He has saved me. He is my God, I will praise him. He is my father’s God, and I will honor him.” - Exodus 15:2 (NIRV)
 
 
God Saves Us From Our Enemies
Scripture: Exodus 7:14-21, The Plague of Blood
Pharaoh and the Egyptians were determined to keep the Israelites as slaves, but God sent a series of plagues to show that He would use His unending power to save His people from their enemies.
Objective: Kids will learn “God fights for us and will save us.”
 
God Saves His People
Scripture: Exodus 12:1-13, 12:31-33, Passover
When the angel of death came through Egypt, God saved His people from that fate. Finally, the Israelites were finally given their freedom and left Egypt for the land that God had promised.
Objective: Kids will learn “God saves those who put their faith in Him.”
 
God Saves When No One Else Can
Scripture: Exodus 14:10-29, Crossing the Red Sea
Pharaoh had a change of heart and sent out his army to bring the Israelites back to Egypt. The Israelites were now trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea. They had no way to save themselves, only God could rescue them, and He did.
Objective: Kids will learn “God is the only one who can save us.”
 
God Saves Us from Ourselves
Scripture: Exodus 16:1-18, 25-31, Manna and Quail
When the Israelites went into the desert, they complained about the harsh conditions. They complained about not having food. They complained about not having water. They complained and they complained some more. Instead of trusting in God, they worried and complained. Despite their hard hearts, God provided for His people and saved them from disaster.
Objective: Kids will learn “God deserves our trust, without complaining.”

Lessons 9-12: The God Who Shares With Us

Memory Verse: “I will take you to be my own people. I will be your God. I throw off the load the Egyptians have put on your shoulders. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.” – Exodus 6:7 (NIRV)
 
God Shares His Law
Scripture: Exodus 19:20-20:21, The Ten Commandments
The Israelites were confused and directionless. God provided His law so the people could know how to live God’s way, but also to show them they could never measure up to God’s holiness.
Objective: Kids will learn “God shares with us the way to live for Him.”
 
God Shares His Righteousness
Scripture: Exodus 32:1-26, The Golden Calf
Even as God was giving the people His law, the people were disobeying. Many rejected God’s righteousness and went their own way. But there were others – like the Levites – who chose to walk with God and see the righteousness and goodness He offers.
Objective: Kids will learn “God shares His grace to allow us to become more like Him.”
 
God Shares His Blessings
Scripture: Exodus 34:1-14, The New Stone Tablets
Instead of rejecting the Israelites, God made a covenant with the people. He promised to bless them if they would walk with Him.
Objective: Kids will learn “God blesses those who repent and trust Him.”
 
God Shares His Presence
Scripture: Exodus 40:1-5, 40:33-38, The Tabernacle
God instructed Moses and the people to build a tabernacle to God. When they did, God made His presence known to them – in a cloud and in fire. God dwells among those who seek after Him.
Objective: Kids will learn “God is with those who seek after Him.”
