If all of God’s creation is good, and the Bible says it is, why is so much of it just so… gross? It’s easy to find God in the beautiful parts of creation, but even the gross things can teach us about God. Mud, barf, boogers, and scabs can remind us how God takes away our “gross” sin so we can do good to others. In Gross But Good 4-Week Children's Ministry Curriculum, kids will learn that God can turn gross things into good things.
Memory verse: “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40:2
Mud
Scripture: Luke 19:1-10 Zacchaeus
Mud reminds us that God’s creation is messy. It became messy when sin entered the world. When we walk through mud, we leave muddy tracks everywhere we go. As Christians, we need to let God clean off the mud of sin off of us so that instead of spreading mud, we can spread God’s love to others. Then we can experience the same transformation that Zacchaeus did when he met Jesus and went from cheating people to blessing people.
Objective: Kids will learn, “I need Jesus to change my heart from bad to good”.
