The good news is, Jesus loves messy people!  Whether you're 5, 45, or 105, we all have our own messes. What a Mess! VBS is about how Jesus deals with our messes; our sins, mistakes, and weaknesses. Throughout the week we will look at the following questions:

  • Why is the world such a messy place?
  • How does Jesus respond to our messiest moments?
  • How should we respond to our messes?
  • What does Jesus do about our messes?
  • What about other people’s messes?

All the while, we are going to have lots of messy fun, with messy snacks, games, crafts, and more!

What A Mess! VBS Sample Lesson Overview:

Who Made This Mess?!

Key Verse: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Scripture: Adam & Eve, Genesis 3

Adam and Eve aren’t just two people who lived long ago and far away. They are a representation of us, every time that we choose to rebel against God by sinning. This place is a mess because of sin. And it is a mess that we can’t clean up on our own.

Main Idea: Why is the world so messy?

    Great VBS for today's world.

"I think this is a great VBS!! We make messes everyday. We need help taking care of them. Our Father helps us with the mess. This speaks personally to my life. The state of the world is a mess and many children see "messes" everyday. Messes only the Father can fix. It is a great lesson to learn and store in our hearts."

    Cynthia P. (5/5)
